Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast

The last time we were here we docked in Naples several miles south. This time we will be anchored somewhere below Sorrento right in the heart of some of one of the most beautiful areas in Italy. The scenery along the Amalfi Coast is breathtaking and the towns are like something out of a story book. Marriano of Pleasant Travel will meet us at whatever pier we are tendered to and take us everywhere we want to go.

Positano

Sorrento Sorrento itself is a picturesque little town in the hills about a half a mile above from the Bay of Napels. You cam see Naples and Mt Vesuvius from some of the viewpoints around the town. There are lots of small lemon groves in the surrounding area. The lemon rinds are used to make Limoncello, a sweet alcoholic apertif produced in the area. The Amamfi Coast The Amalfi Coast is absolutely spectacular! There are parts of the California coast that might match it for raw beauty but when you add in the little towns like Positano with all their white buildings clinging to the cliffs and hillsides it becomes something really special.

A villa on the Amalfi coast We might want to check with a local realtor to see if this place is on the market. I understand it belongs to Sophia Loren but maybe she's tired of it.
