Stewart to Prince Rupert

It was 280 some miles to Prince Rupert but the road was paved and we made good time. The only major event was meeting a large grizzly bear on a particularly deserted stretch of road. He must have heard us coming because when we came around the corner he was standing in the middle of the road looking at us.

By the time we got slowed down we were pretty close. While I was trying to decide whether to stop or go around him he got back down on all fours and ambled off the road. Betty said she didnít say anything but someone kept saying oooh, ooooh, ooooh and for some reason she didnít get any pictures.

Prince Rupert was the largest town we had seen since we left Bellingham. We got a room at the Howard Johnson with a balcony and a great view of the sound. After a good meal in their dining room we felt like we were back in civilization.

....We enjoy a good dinner and a spectacular sunset from our balcony.
